    Miscellaneous: Links

The best way to keep the new fall TV season straight? Variety’s Season Pass, a group blog by the paper’s editorial staff.

The gang at New York magazine’s Vulture is happy that Jon Stewart will be back hosting the Oscars, but they suggest that the Academy cast a wider net in future by looking to the past.

For some reason my brain coughed up this bit of childhood detritus this morning. I can’t get it out of my head, and I don’t believe in suffering alone. I’m pretty sure that’s not standard firefighting technique. Or trombone playing, for that matter.

Thanks again, Vince, for planting a song in my head that won't get out. So if you're reading this comment, here's one for you: Shiny, Shiny. You're welcome.
Let's hope the Mets sweep the Phillies. I was at the game Wednesday night, and will say that Mota needs to be removed from the playoff roster in only for Willie's well-being. He can't stop himself from using Mota, not matter how terrible he is. Everyone in the stadium expected him to give up the lead, and he did on the first batter. He is horrible. I'd rather have Sele, and that says it all.

I was watching at home and began chanting, "Not Mota. Not Mota." Didn't work. Still, at least you got to see some sterling base running by Beltran. The Amazin's can play small ball, too.
